There is no shortage of mugs in my kitchen. I have mugs that are plain white, covered with funny sayings, and inspired by movies, and I even have some with lids (which are especially good for when I make tea). I have my favorites.
So even though there are at least 25 mugs in my greige kitchen cabinet right now, I basically use the same four over and over again. Two of those four are all thanks Oprah.
The Sweet July Edgewater Collection Coffee Mug Set was named to Oprah’s Favorite Things List last year, and when I saw them I just knew I was going to end up with a set for myself. Sure enough, I have actually fallen in love with these very cozy and stylish mugs — so much so that I find myself constantly reaching for them over my former favorites.
Founded by food personality and cookbook author Ayesha Curry, Sweet July offers a variety of gorgeous home goods (think: blankets, candles, serving bowls), as well as loungewear, jewelry, and more. Unsurprisingly, the ceramic mugs are equally as beautiful.

The handmade mugs are sold in sets of two and come in three different colors: Grey Speckled, White Speckled, and Chai Speckled. (Sadly the Black Speckled ones I have are not available on Amazon and are currently sold out on the brand’s website. I’ll keep an eye out for them, though.)
It would be all too easy for me to get a new set of mugs, use them for a week, and then unintentionally push them to the back of my cabinet where I’d forget about them. Not these gems! I’ve been loving these mugs so much since I got them in the fall that I break them out practically every morning.
They’re the only hand-thrown ceramic mugs I own. They have a flared design that is wider toward the base and tapers toward the top, and a nice thick handle on the side. It fits comfortably in my hand, which isn’t something I can say about some of my mugs collecting dust.
Although they have some slight imperfections (one of my mugs has little dents around the bottom), I personally like that I can see the craftsmanship that went into making them.
It’s also microwave-safe (great for mug cakes!), dishwasher-approved (a serious perk for me), and even oven-friendly, as long as you don’t heat them above 300°F (a feature I haven’t found a use for just yet, but is still pretty cool).
